In this episode, I speak with Tamara Haque.
Tamara is a Bangladeshi-Australian who spent her childhood in Saudi Arabia. Her favorite authors as a child were Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton and Charles Dickens. These authors gave her many heroes to look up to, Matilda being her favorite.Tamara loved her multicultural upbringing but didn’t always find it easy to embrace her Muslim identity. Reading about Islam’s rich history and its great heroes surely helped. She wanted to write her first book because she wants to inspire children and adults alike to be proud of their Muslim identity and change misconceptions. When Tamara isn’t writing, she is likely working as a Strategist, reading, sketching, spending time with her husband and friends, discovering new places, new food, new cultures, or talking to her plants. She will also be your best friend if you introduce her to your puppy.
